FAMOUS London hotel Claridge’s have hosted event showcasing ingredients sourced from Ryedale.

The event, entitled Malton in Mayfair, was billed as “an exclusive dinner showcasing ingredients sourced from Malton and the surrounding areas of North Yorkshire”.

Tom and Alice Naylor-Leyland, of the Fitwilliam Estate, currently developing Malton as Yorkshire’s Food Capital, worked alongside Claridge’s executive chef Martyn Nail to craft a three-course Yorkshire-inspired menu.

High-profile guests included wife of the former prime minister Samantha Cameron, Emilia Wickstead, Charlotte Olympia and Valentine Warner.

Tom Naylor-Leyland said: “Malton is a proud and vibrant town with food at its heart.

“Its food producers have garnered much admiration and respect by notable foodies in recent years, with Malton being hailed as Yorkshire’s Food Capital.

“We are rightly incredibly proud of the quality and abundance of food produced in our region and it’s a great honour to see that recognised and advocated by one of London’s most revered chefs and iconic hotels, and enjoyed by discerning foodies at Malton in Mayfair.”

Producers featuring on the menu at the evening included Roost Coffee, YO Bakehouse, Dales the Chef’s Choice, Florian Poirot macrons, Derek Fox Butcher, Rare Bird Gin, Bluebird Bakery and Brass Castle Brewery.

Guests left the dinner with goodie bags brimming with “Made in Malton” produce, as well as Visit Malton aprons.

Martyn Nail said: “Working with Tom and Alice Naylor-Leyland to bring Malton to Mayfair was a pleasure and they really did bring the best in quality of flavourful ingredients to the table.

“We hope to see more of Yorkshire’s world class produce on menus in London.

“I, for one, will be putting a visit to Malton in the diary very soon to see it for myself.”
