A MALTON man has been nominated for the title of the nation’s top bus driver.

Adam Davies, who drives the Coastliner bus on what was recently officially named "Britain’s Most Scenic Bus Route", is one of eight nominees for the award.

Adam said: “I felt completely overwhelmed to be shortlisted. The response from colleagues old and new, customers, friends and family has been really touching.

"I love my job, and what I do comes naturally to me. I know how I like to be treated and simply duplicate that across to my customers.

“To win would not only be a massive personal achievement but a great achievement for Coastliner too.”

Alex Hornby, CEO of the TransDev group that runs Coastliner buses, said on Twitter: “It’s well deserved and we’re all really proud of him.”

The contest is part of the national finals of the UK Bus Awards. The winner will be chosen at a presentation ceremony at Troxy in London on November 20.

Mark Yexley, chairman of the UK Bus Awards, said: “The awards are a symbol of excellence within our industry. The judging process is very tough, and all our finalists should be proud of their achievements.”
