MALTON Masons have remembered a member by donating money to three of his favourite charities.
John Piercy, a tailor and musician, died in May, aged 73. His widow, Sandra, was invited to a meeting of the masons where they presented cheques to Saint Catherine’s, York Kidney Research and Encephalitis Society, on behalf of the Lodge.
A spokesman for the Malton Masons said: “ Afterwards all were invited to dine with the members of the lodge.
“The masons were keen to make a mark that though John Piercy is no longer with us his legacy of good work will continue.
“Masonry has been in the community for a long time and the Malton Masons recently held open day where non masons had the chance to look at the lodge and find out about its workings.”
