RYEDALE Youth Theatre’s (RYT) Greatest Show is at the Milton Rooms in Malton this week.

Directed and choreographed by Chloe Shipley and Lauren Hood, the show involves a cast of 68 young people.

Barbara Wood, from RYT, said: “This is a fundraising concert and all proceeds will go towards staging Ryedale Youth Theatre’s Easter 2019 production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

“RYT is thrilled to have been granted the licence to perform this wonderful musical as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the much-loved1968 movie.

Barbara said RYT was a voluntary organisation and a registered charity, which relies upon ticket sales to support the current and future shows.

“This is a very ambitious musical to stage and therefore will involve a lot of extra expenditure,” she said.

“For instance the Chitty Car and The Child Catcher Carriage are essential props and our volunteer master carpenter/stage manager will source all materials and build a bespoke Chitty and Carriage enabling them to fit on the extended but small Milton Rooms stage.”

Barbara said RYT’s Greatest Show would include extracts from hit musicals such as Matilda, Mamma Mia and Hairspray. “It will be an evening of singing and dancing not to be missed,” she said.

RYT’s Greatest Show is at the Milton Rooms on Friday, November 2, at 7pm, and Saturday, November 3, at 2pm and 7pm.

Tickets are £10 for adults and £8 for concessions and are available from the Milton Rooms box office, Market Place, Malton, phone 01653 696240 or online at themiltonrooms.com
