AN EDINBURGH Fringe hit comedy exposing the behind-the-scenes dramas of the darts world comes to the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough, next month.
Darts Wives was created after a year of in-depth research following a personal introduction to the darts underworld by sports promoter extraordinaire Barry Hearn.
Hanging out with Hearn behind-the-scenes, the writers – sisters and comedy double act Lauretta and Sharon Gavin – got to interview many real life “DWAGS” and their families.
Laurette Gavin said: “WAGS are so last season. This year it’s all about the DWAGS. Meet the Beckhams and the Rooneys of the darts world in this hilarious no-holds-barred exposé of this passionate, competitive and dramatic world, where what matters more than anything is finishing on a double.”
The original show was brought to Edinburgh to sell-out audiences and rave reviews. It was picked up by production company Channel X and developed into a sitcom pilot. It has now been updated into a new stage version. The Gavin sisters star in the show alongside Tonya French and Jackie Howe.
Darts Wives can be seen in the McCarthy auditorium at the SJT from at 1.45pm and 7.15pm on Thursday, November 15and at 7.45pm on Friday, November 16. Tickets are £10, and can be booked at the box office on 01723 370541 or via sjt.uk.com
