DESPITE blustery conditions, a North York Moors stable held the third event in its autumn dressage series sponsored by Saracen Horse Feeds on Saturday, October 13.

Beckside Livery Stables, based at Sneatonthorpe, near Whitby, also held a Macmillan coffee morning, which raised more than £80 in donations for the cancer support charity.

Organiser and manager of the stables Cara Shardlow said: “Although we had very breezy conditions everyone managed to make it.

“Jayne Tompkins won the Prelim and took second place in the PYO on the very consistent Hillgarth Majestic,” she said.

“They now head the leaderboard in that class.”

Second in the Prelim with 69.09 per cent was Abbi Christopher on Mr Fox III, and third place went to Rebecca Noble and Tig with 68.41.

In the PYO, Ms Tompkins came second to another successful pairing.

Ms Shardlow said: “Vicci Smith and her young pony Spartacus coped very well with the windy conditions.”

The duo gained the highest score of the day of 76.09 per cent in the Intro class and also finished first in the PYO with 75.6 per cent.

Ms Shardlow said: “They won the Intro and PYO classes and are now heading the leaderboard in the Intro and joint with Katherine Rayment in the PYO.”

In the Junior class, Ms Shardlow said: “Bethany Thompson was on great form again.

“She did two lovely tests to gain a very high score in the junior prelim and won both junior sections.”

Ms Shardlow added: “Thank you to judge Marge Coultas.”

The stables’ next competition is October 28 with two left in the series.
