THE First Norton Scout Group have held their bi-annual sponsored walk, funds from which they share 50/50 with their chosen charity.
This year’s charity was Candlelighters as the group had a family being supported by the cause. More than 100 people walked between six and 12 miles from Pickering to Newton-on-Rawcliffe and back. Once all the money was gathered in, the group was able to hand over a cheque for £1,154.50 to Jennifer Aspinall, from Candlelighters.
A spokesman for the scout group, said: “Candlelighters have just open a new halfway house in Leeds for families to stay in while their children are in hospital getting treatment so we wish them well and hope the money can be put to good use.”
