FUNDRAISERS in Nunnington have helped to raise thousands of pounds for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

The Village Hall Committee raised the money at the 2018 Nunnington Bash, which is now in its sixth year.

The event started when local resident Ken Metcalfe decided to hold a fundraiser for his birthday in 2011. It was such a success he did the same the following year, raising money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. In 2013, the village hall committee took over as the event had outgrown the venue and it was held on the cricket field.

Donna Stamp, one of the organisers, said: “The bash is now in its sixth year on the field and attracts about 500 people. We have never looked back, raising just over £62,559 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance

“This could not be achieved without the local businesses for cash donations and the loan of lights, tents, etc. We also have the help from the local young farmers and residents.

“This year the village hall committee handed over a cheque to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance for £11,163.30. Many thanks to everyone for their help in reaching this total.”
