HEAVY and persistent rain yesterday saw flood damage to properties and drains unable to cope.
On the coast, fire crews from Scarborough attended several incidents overnight due to bad weather.
They were called to Westwood Road at 11.46pm, Scalby Road at 12.41am, and Trafalgar Square at 01.17am.
In each case there was flood water inside properties, in one case affecting the electrics.
Crews pumped water away from the area, diverted water, isolated appliances and made properties safe.
In Norton, gardens were flooded due to inadequate drains. Norton town councillor Di Keal tweeted this picture of her own garden:
State of our (& neighbours) gardens this morning - heavy duty rain last night going into inadequate drains - can we get this sorted before winter sets in? @northyorkscc @YorkshireWater @RyedaleDC @KarenGazette #flooding #climatechangeweather pic.twitter.com/KFp1XvjI4F

The heavy rain also created deep areas of standing water on the roads which were hazardous to vehicles.
Heavy overnight rain has left some large & deep areas of standing water on several roads. Please adjust your driving accordingly and #DriveToArrive. This vehicle left the road near #York after aquaplaning, fortunately the driver is not believed to be seriously injured. pic.twitter.com/XyA0ibEjNB
