POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a hate crime involving a blind man.
The incident took place at around 10am on Saturday, September 15 on County Bridge between Norton and Malton.
A police spokesperson said: "A blind male was walking with his guide dog and his path was purposefully blocked by a member of the public. The offender was male with a local accent and was repeatedly verbally abusive to the victim in regards to his disability. There was also a child with the offender and both had bicycles with them.
"We are interested in identifying the offender; we are also appealing for a potential witness to come forward who spoke to the victim following the incident who offered him reassurance and seemed to know who the offender was"
