A CRASH on the A64 at the Scotchman Lane junction involved three vehicles and blocked the road.
North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue said that they were called at 10.37am.
Fire engines from Tadcaster, York and Huntington - along with an incident support unit from Malton - went to the scene of the collision between a coach, a Honda Jazz and a Kia Sportage.
Crews assisted the ambulance service with first aid and also extricated two casualties in their 80s from the Honda Jazz with neck and chest pain.
The pair were transferred to hospital via road ambulance.
The driver of the coach and the Kia Sportage were checked over by paramedics at scene. The fire crews then assisted with making the scene safe.
A police spokesperson said they were contacted for assistance at 10.39am by Fire and Rescue services.
The incident caused long queues in both directions.
A police spokesperson said: "The road was blocked at the time of the call, however the latest update at 12.05pm reports the road is now clear."
