FOR this month’s feature, Malton Camera Club member Tony Horsfield has picked six pictures he has taken this summer of local wildlife and insects.

He said: “Places such as Millington Pastures and Yearsley Forest can usually be relied on to give photographers a wide variety of butterflies, moths and other insects to try and shoot.

“With the right equipment good shots can be had and the light has been very good allowing camera speeds to be higher to capture the more skittish insects.

“When shooting these subjects patience is a virtue along with the ability to stand still for lengthy periods of time.

“Featured are moorhen and chicks, gatekeeper and painted lady butterflies, mating dragonflies and two types of grasshopper.”
