NATURE-inspired artwork by Malton Primary School pupils was the focus of an exhibition in St Michael’s Church in Malton.
The exhibition combined the pupils’ art with the literature that inspired it, including the book The Lost Words by Robert Macfarlane and Jackie Morris.
The aim of the exhibition was to make the children more aware of nature.
Head teacher Kelly Wilkinson said of the exhibition: “I’d love them to see that art can be completed not only for pleasure but with a purpose too, hence displaying the exhibition.
“By getting the children involved in this project, we will surely alert their senses and encourage them to explore and appreciate the surroundings where they live.”
Several businesses had supported the venture, along with leader for art Fiona Bielby, Carol Ring, artists Emma Aldrich and Chloe Davet, along with the school’s business manager Louise Northrop-Clay.
“We couldn’t have done it without the support of the community at St Michael’s Church,” Ms Wilkinson added.
