AN electrical fault has caused a combine harvester to catch fire in a Ryedale field.

Fire crews from Malton and Kirkbymoorside were despatched to the incident on Muscoates Lane, Nunnington at 12:25pm this afternoon.

Fire services said that the fire was confined to the engine bay of the harvester and was out on arrival of crews - however, fire had spread to standing cornfield crop.

Crews extinguished it with a hosereel jet.

This isn't the first fire to farm machinery this week. On Monday, another combine caught fire in a field north of Pickering, and yesterday a straw baler started a fire in a field in Sinnington.
