FIREFIGHTERS have tackled a fire at a residential property in Tadcaster.
Crews from Tadcaster and Acomb were sent to the property in Westfield Crescent at 10.26pm last night.
"On arrival, crews found the fire to be confined to the rear of the property and used two breathing apparatus and a hose reel to extinguish the fire," said a spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service.
"Crews made the scene safe and carried out fire investigations. The cause is still under investigation." She added that only minor damage was caused.
Fire crews were also called out to a 'house fire' in Sheepfoot Hill, Malton, at just after 6am today, with people still reported to be inside after a neighbour had heard an alarm sounding.
"This turned out to be a false alarm due to cooking fumes and crews were able to wake up the occupants who had not heard the alarm," said the spokeswoman. "Crews ventilated the property."
