FOR this month’s feature, Kirkbymoorside Camera Club has chosen a selection of images from its the Best of Year competition.

A spokesman the club said: “This year has seen many new members join the club, from beginners to those striving to improve their photography.

“There are two mediums in which trophies are awarded, projected images and prints.

“In each medium there are a number of specialist and open categories.

“The six highest scores in each category go forward to the ‘Best of Year” competition.”

Printed image section

Overall winner in the print section and winner of the natural history section: Bob Ordidge - Snow Monkeys in Hot Spring.

Best portrait section: Mike Ward - The Preacher Gesticulating; highly-commended: Iain Leadley - Nature’s Symmetry.

Projected image section

Overall runner-up: Jim Cavanagh - Dorset Smoothie.

Winner of natural history section: Bob Ordidge - Last Catch of the Day.

The club also holds separate competitions for specialist categories.

The winner of this season’s projected image in the monochrome competition was Julie Cowdy for her image shown here.

Newcomers to the club are also recognised for their achievements during the year in both the projected images and print categories. This year’s winner in the projected images section was Sharon Marwood.

The club meets on the first and third Thursdays of the month at the Moorside Bar and Club, Shaw Drive, Kirkbymoorside, at 7.30pm.
