GREEN party activists spent National Clean Air day on an “anti-idling” mission to cut pollution from buses.

City councillors Andy D’Agorne and Denise Craghill and party campaigners went to Rougier Street and Gillygate - both traffic pollution blackspots - as well as bus stops in Exhibition Square to try to persuade bus drivers to turn engines off when vehicles are stationary.

Cllr D’Agorne said he was still pushing the council for action on its “anti-idling” policy, and wants to see signs put up to urge drivers to cut pollution by turning off their engines when waiting.

The UK’s National Clean Air Day took place for the first time on June 15, 2017. It was launched with the aim of raising awareness and starting conversations about the risks of air pollution, and the ways it can be cut down.
