A STUDENT who is planning to take part in development and conservation projects in Africa is organising a fundraising event.
Becky Bramley, from Rillington, is travelling to Malawi this summer with a group from Malton School to take part in an expedition with Camps International.
The 17-year-old is holding a fundraising Cantonese Meal at the Queen’s Head, Amotherby, on Sunday, June, 24, 12-2pm, to help raise the £4,000 needed to take part in the project.
Becky said: “I am really excited about taking part in this incredible opportunity where I will be able to experience so much and hopefully help make a small but significant difference to the lives of the local families living there.
“Projects include building desks for pupil and installing fresh water tanks at schools and in villages – something we take for granted. The final week includes a three day trek up Mount Mulanje Massif.”
“I am hoping this event, alongside working, baking for friends and family, will help me meet my target.
Tickets for the meal are £9 for adults and £5 for children available from the Queens Head on 01653 693630, Tracy 07713 684170 or Becky 07713 684450.
