THE sights and sounds of a traditional village show will be open to all when Acklam Sports and Gymkhana Show returns next month.
According to the show's organisers there will be plenty of competition in a range of equestrian classes.
The show, which has been running for more than 100 years in the Ryedale village of Acklam, will feature a full day of equestrian events. It will also include trial bike demonstrations, a laser clay pigeon shoot, terrier racing and sheep shearing.
There will also be a dog show, children’s art competition, athletics, a baking competition, live music, a beer tent, and much more besides.
Gemma Thwaites, chairman of the committee, said: “This year’s gymkhana is gearing up to be one of the very best in our 100 year history.
"We have an action-packed schedule for show goers to enjoy and lots of competition in the equestrian classes.
"We hope as many people as possible will join us and enjoy all the fun and games of a traditional village show.”
Acklam Sports and Gymkhana takes place at Kirk Balk Field, Acklam, on Saturday, June 2.
Equestrian events start at 9am with main ring attractions beginning at 10.30am.
