PICKERING in Bloom is appealing for new members.

The group, which maintains the town’s planters and community areas, has said it is unable to run the bi-annual town bloom competition this year due to the lack of volunteers.

Eileen Blakeley, chairman of Pickering in Bloom, said: “The bi-annual town bloom competition always attracts a large number of entries, but unfortunately this year we are so low on volunteers that we don’t have the time to run it. We are sorry for causing any disappointment but we need to concentrate our efforts on maintaining the town’s displays.”

Eileen said they would welcome anyone who would like to join the group. “We currently have 11 volunteers and anyone who is interested is welcome to join us each Wednesday at 10am and the Ropery.”
