THE St Leonard’s hospice annual fundraiser could be a knockout way to end the summer.

Teams are being encouraged to sign up for the St Leonard’s charity It’s a Knockout event, now in its seventh year, which will take place on Knavesmire on Sunday, September 2.

The official Graham Fisher’s International It’s a Knockout is based on the old TV series, which originally ran from the 1960s to the 1980s in the UK.

Teams will have to compete against each other in a series of fun but silly challenges, and prospective competitors are warned to be prepared for a good soaking.

Hospice fundraiser Annie Keogh said: “This is a great team event, ideal for businesses, families or groups of friends to enter.

“As well as being great fun, it’s a great team-building activity to take part in while raising thousands for the hospice.

“There are limited places available and we’ve already had out first team register, so get your team signed up early!

“We also need lots of spectators on Knavesmire to cheer them on.”

The organisers are inviting teams of between six and ten people, who must be over the age of 16, and are asking them to raise as much money as they can in sponsorship for the hospice.

As a guide, teams generally raise in the region of £60 per person or around £600 per team.

Entry for spectators is free, though there will be a suggested donation of £1 for parking.

For the first time, the hospice’s Paws for a Cause sponsored dog walk and dog show will be held at the same time.

In addition, there will be rides, tombolas, stalls and food.
