FORMER Bulls star Paul Clough has signed a two-year contract extension that will keep him at Huddersfield until the end of 2020.

The 30-year-old forward was an ever-present for the Giants last year in his first season with the club after switching from Bradford.

Huddersfield head coach Rick Stone said: "He was one of our most consistent players last year and played in every game.

"He's one of those blokes that isn't a flashy superstar but does his job as well as anyone else every week. He's a reliable commodity and every team needs one of those."

Clough, who began his career with home-town club St Helens, is confident the Giants can compete for a play-off place this season, despite losing three of their first four Super League games.

He said: "The club is building on from last year's finish in the Super 8s and everyone within the squad is doing all they can to get the club back into the top four."
