FOR this week’s Way We Were we have a selection of old photos.

They include the swimming pool in Norton when it was open air with the gasometer in the background, taken in about 1947. The band probably a FooFoo Band, is pictured near the Norton and Malton level crossing in 1937, while Norton Church Lads Brigade is outside St Peter’s Church in about 1939.

The boys with the horse and trap are pictured south of the Derwent. The rail bridge that went to Driffield in the background. All photos were submitted by Robin Holmes from Birdsall.

The older photo was supplied by Alan Jones from Malton. The photo was taken in the early 1900s in the Malton area. The carriage is a Brough.
