STUDENTS are planning to improve their outside area thanks to a grant from the Yorkshire Agricultural Society.
As part of the personal development activities (PDA) programme, pupils take part in a variety of projects, including gardening, which provides students with the opportunity to develop their skills by preparing beds, planting and looking after the various crops they produce.
Helen Wilson, who runs the sessions, said: “The grant will be used to invest in equipment to continue the work in cultivating the outdoor space around the school.
“Items such as a wheel barrow, gloves for the students to wear, hand tools, loppers to prune fruit trees, secateurs, seed trays and compost all on the shopping list.
“I and the students would like to thank Yorkshire Agricultural Society for their grant. Thanks also go to Malton in Bloom for their ongoing support of the project.”
