A NEW Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) Support Service has been launched in Ryedale.

The new service, funded by Ryedale District Council, aims to enhance the support available to voluntary groups and communities. Launched at the Ryedale Village Hall Network meeting, the project will assist village halls seeking funding and help inspire and promote volunteering.

District Councillor Steve Arnold said: “Ryedale’s community groups and hundreds of volunteers are integral to making Ryedale the welcoming, safe, active and caring community that we are proud to live and work in.

“All our groups need a little extra help from time to time to recruit and support volunteers, find funding for new and exciting projects and to maintain their huge contribution to Ryedale life. Working together with Community First Yorkshire will enable Ryedale District Council to provide that helping hand, and continue to support our voluntary groups to thrive.”

Leah Swain, chief executive of Community First Yorkshire, said: “Community First Yorkshire are delighted to be able to enhance the support we can offer to voluntary and community sector organisations across Ryedale.

"We have a long track record of supporting community groups in the district and we are pleased to be able to work with Ryedale District Council to identify new activities.”
