A NORTON care home has celebrated the birthday of its oldest resident.
Annie Scarle, who lives at Beechwood Place Nursing Home, was 105 last Thursday.
Born in West Knapton, Annie was a church organist for a number of years and continues to enjoy music.
Tina Kelly, the home’s activities co-ordinator, said: “Annie played the organ at Rillington church and she can still sing hymns all the way through and word for word.
“She is our oldest resident by a long way and still very bright and alert. Annie enjoys looking at books from Norton library and she loves animals, particularly dogs and cats. If any of the staff bring their pets in she likes to stroke them.”
Annie celebrated her birthday with a cake and received flowers, cards and chocolates from friends, family and Norton Town Council.
Tina said: “Altogether we had about 35 people here and she had a lovely time.”
