A YELLOW warning has been issued for snow in York on Friday morning.
The Met Office says that after a cold, frosty start, a brief spell of rain, sleet and snow is possible in York and North Yorkshire, easing later.
It says some roads and railways in the north of England are likely to be affected, with journey times taking longer.
However much milder weather is expected over the weekend and into the New Year.
These webcam images by North Yorkshire County Council show snow having fallen on the A170 at Sutton Bank this morning.
