A BAKER has won two international awards.

Katalin Tolnai, from Kati’s Cakery in Norton, won the awards for her cakes at Cake International in Birmingham last month.

Winning silver in the carved novelty cake category and a merit award for her wedding cake in the three or more tier class was no small feat as she went up against hundreds of bakers from around the world and across the UK.

Katalin set up her business in January 2016 with help from her business coach at Yorkshire Housing.

She said: “I’m so pleased with how well we did at Cake International. These awards mean so much to me; it’s been a great boost to my business and I’m already seeing an increase in orders.

“I’m grateful for the support and encouragement to start my own bakery from my business coach.

“Being self-employed has increased my income and has given me the flexibility to take care of my family.”
