A RYEDALE woman has raised about £700 for an animal sanctuary.
Paula McMillan completed a 40-mile bike ride from Yedingham to Hope Animal shelter, near Skinningrove in Cleveland.
She said: "It took seven hours as the weather was very bleak. I had a stop at the Coach House in Rosedale where my family were waiting, then a hard ride over the Moors to Castleton and then to the sanctuary."
Paula, who lives in Rillington, added: "I have twin boys who are avid bikers and my family live in Cleveland. It started off as a bet as they said I wouldn't make it to Cleveland and bet me a £100 each, so as I rescued my yearling pony from animal sanctuary I thought be nice to do it for them.
"It was hard work but all in a good cause and I have raised more than expected."
