TWO people are wanted on warrant after they failed to attend court in connection with the anti-fracking protests at Kirby Misperton.

Benoir Douchy, 29, who had told police he lived at the protestors’ camp in Habton Road, Kirby Misperton, and Sarah Jane Currie, 31, of Sunnyside, Liverpool, had been charged with two others with obstructing the highway. Their co-defendants, Brian Tudor, 72, of Spring Hill, Darlington, and Lyn Oxberry, 65, of Bracken Close, Stanley, near Durham, did attend York Magistrates Court. Warrants for Douchy and Currie were issued when they failed to appear. The other two denied the charge of allegedly blocking Habton Road on October 16.

Together with Julie Collins, 39, who gave her address as the protestors’ camp, and who denied a charge of besetting a place to stop a lawful act on October 16, they were released on bail until February 1.

Their cases will be listed for legal arguments with others involving alleged offences at the anti-fracking protests, on January 11 at York Magistrates Court. Ronald John Holloran, 51, who gave his address as the protesters’ camp, denied the same charge as Collins and his case was listed for trial on March 12. He was released on bail.
