A NEW calendar has gone on sale celebrating Kirkbymoorside as a working town. Produced by Kirkbymoorside History Group, the calendar includes old images of a few of the businesses in the town, with old invoices and a brief history with each one.
Louise Mudd, from the history group, said: “We’ve included some that are still in business today, such as Stricklands and some which have long gone such as the National Sectional Buildings Co, who were renowned for making pigeon lofts.” The group has only had a limited number printed this year – just 70 – and over half have sold already.
The calendars are £7 each with funds going to support and expand the Kirkbymoorside History Archives. They are available from either the group members or from Children in Distress Shop in Kirkbymoorside.
