ACTOR John McArdle has been given the all clear by doctors after he was taken ill on stage during last night’s performance of Frantic Assembly's Things I Know To be True at York Theatre Royal.

Mr McArdle was examined at York Hospital last night and will be recuperating at home today.

In his absence, director Scott Graham will read in the part of Bob Price at tonight's 7.30pm performance.

Today's 2pm matinee will not go ahead; ticket holders affected by the cancellation of this show or last night's performance can exchange tickets for another performance of Andrew Bovell's dysfunctional family drama or request a full refund in person from the Theatre Royal box office or on 01904 623568.

Casting arrangements for tomorrow's 7.30pm performance and Saturday's 2.30pm and 7.30pm shows are yet to be announced by Frantic Assembly.

Mr McArdle, best known for his soap opera role as Billy Corkhill in Brookside, last appeared on the Theatre Royal stage in February 2014, playing bandleader Danny in Brassed Off.
