HUNDREDS of motorcyclists rode into Malton on Sunday as part of an annual charity Easter Egg Run.

The traditional Squires Motorbike Café’s fundraiser saw motorbikes, trikes and scooters travel in a cavalcade to Malton from Sherburn-in-Elmet in North Yorkshire, with many riders in fancy dress.

Organised by Ryedale Special Families, the event raised money for the charity, along with the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, who attended with their new heli-vehicle.

Music was provided by the Cover Ups and The Rusty Pegs.

A grand charity raffle was held in aid of Ryedale Special Families and free Easter eggs for children.

Event organiser Rob Davies, funding co-ordinator for Ryedale Special Families, thanked everyone involved for their support.

He said: “Amazing isn’t the word – the weather was unbelievable, the crowds who turned out, even more so. There were thousands packed in the Market Place for the arrival of the 1,200 motorbikes and 100 scooters.

“The pennies are still being counted, but I know we took almost £1,000 on our tombola stall and from donations. A huge thank you to everyone concerned for making this event happen again. I sincerely hope all the shops and cafes that opened did really well and thanks again for the people of Malton for supporting it.”

Squires Egg Run organiser Chris Eden said: “We were thrilled to return to Malton. People were extremely welcoming and supportive.”
