A FOUR-VEHICLE crash closed the A64 this afternoon, causing heavy traffic build up in both directions.
The crash took place on the eastbound road near the Highwayman cafe at around 1.30pm.
It involved a Vauxhall Astra, a Volvo V70, a Seat Arosa and a Ford Transit van.
A police spokesperson said it caused some minor injuries.
Emergency services attended and the road was closed while they recovered the vehicles.

The road re-opened at 3.15pm.
Separately, there was a two-car crash on the A64 near Cranbeck, near Malton, at about 9.45pm on Wednesday.
A Nissan Micra and Volkswagen Passat collided and the road was blocked for almost two hours.
One driver was treated for suspected minor neck injuries, and the road was open again by 11.20pm.
