A DETERMINED eight-year-old girl has raised more than £350 for a children's wig charity after having her own hair cut short.

Huntington Primary School pupil Jasmine Scott was keen to play her part after learning of the work of the Little Princess Trust.

Jasmine had her hair cut into a bob at York salon Toni and Guy, which waived the fee.

She donated the eight inches she lost to the charity, which makes wigs for children who suffer hair loss due to cancer treatment.

Jasmine's mum Sarah Lambert said: "It was all her idea. She just saw something and ran with it.

"She saw a little girl, who had no hair and wanted to know why.

"I said I don't really know why, but there are a couple of possible reasons.

"I knew about the Little Princess Trust and put that up for her to read and she just said I want to do my hair."

Sarah added: "Jasmine found out it costs up to £500 to make a wig.

"So far through sponsorship she has raised £357. Nothing has been done online - she has just gone around with a clipboard.

"She has been very determined to do her bit."
