ORGANISERS of this year’s Malton Food Lovers Festival are promising the biggest and best event yet.
A full programme of events has been planned, including new additions for the whole family with a festival party and live music, street food market open until late, a children’s zone and a vintage fun fair.
There will also be a competition stage where families will take on food-inspired challenges, while budding chefs have an introduction to the fun world of food and drink with the children’s zone.
Chefs from Malton’s Old Lodge Hotel will be kneading dough for pizza making fun, while the Salvation Army will be on hand offering some entertainment all weekend, including themed arts and crafts and the childhood favourite, face painting.
Foodie lovers and cooking fanatics can pick up “masterchef” style tips through an array of tempting activity, demonstrations and cooking lessons. Mouth-watering produce will be on offer from the Made in Malton family of producers, including the new 2016 festival area, the restored Talbot Yard Food Court, while a host of chefs, including celebrity chef Rosemary Shrager and Michelin-starred chef James Mackenzie, display their culinary magic as chef demonstrations unfold in the Inntravel Cookery Theatre.
The Festival Bar, run by award-winning Made In Malton accredited brewery Brass Castle, will be open until late for the Festival Party with live bands on stage.
For those who would like to brush up on their cooking skills there will be the the chance to roll up their sleeves, don a cookery apron and try their hand in the Malton Cookery School under the expert tuition of Head Tutor Gilly Robinson.
Tom Naylor-Leyland, festival director, said: “We’re very excited to be launching the biggest and best festival yet and look forward to welcoming thousands of food lovers to our picturesque market town to join us in celebrating Yorkshire’s finest food and drink.
