A YORK nurse is aiming to raise £3,000 for Child Bereavement UK by trekking in the Himalayas.
Nick Jones is part of the community nurse team at York Hospital that looks after children with life-limiting conditions.
A keen walker, he is training hard for the 10-day challenge in October and has just returned from a trekking experience in Crete where he was put through his paces.
Nick said: "I have completed the Three Peaks and Lyke Wake walks, but have never attempted such an ambitious challenge before.
"Things are going well, but I face a lot of hard work ahead if I am to complete this challenge later in the year. "
Nick has worked with young people for 30 years and was a previously nurse consultant at the Lime Trees child and adolescent unit in Shipton Road, York.
He added: "I am passionate about supporting young people and their families where a life-threatening illness or loss may be present along their individual journeys."
