CHILDREN from Ryedale joined thousands of other young voices for a national event.

The pupils took part in Young Voices, the Biggest School Choir in the World at Sheffield Motorpoint Arena.

Donna Stockill, music teacher at Leavening Primary School, said: "This was an amazing experience for the children where they will perform alongside professional musicians and artists and thousands of other school children. They have been working very hard since September to prepare and memorise a wide range of songs for the concert with additional harmony parts and lots of actions."

Mrs Stockill said one of the parents who attended had said it was the best thing they have ever done and the children's excitement and enthusiasm for the whole thing was amazing.

"The children were a credit to the school and really did us proud, so a massive well done and thank you. It was a truly memorable day," she said.

Teacher Julia Ellis, from Norton Primary School, which also attended the event, said: "It was an amazing opportunity for the children to join schools from our region and take part in such a fabulous event. We all had a brilliant experience."
