A RYEDALE councillor has resigned for personal reasons.
Councillor Phil Evans of Derwent Ward of Ryedale District Council has stepped stepped down, forcing a by election.
A spokesman for Thirsk & Malton Conservative Association, said: "We are grateful to Phil for all he has done for residents in his ward and wish him well for the future."
The association is hoping that the by election will be called shortly, but in the meantime Derwent residents can contact their other ward member, Councillor Michael Cleary at cllr.michael.cleary@ryedale.gov.uk or by phoning 07789 555969.
