THE line-up for next year's Coastival arts festival in Scarborough has been unveiled.

It will take place from February 12 to 14 and headline act will be rock band Cast with a concert at the Spa Grand Hall on the evening of February 12, supported by Two Skies.

Popular saxophonist Snake Davis will play at the Spa during the afternoon of February 13, supported by Jazz Aesthetic.

Asian Dub Foundation will headline at the Spa on the evening of February 13, supported by Project 12.

On the afternoon of February 14, Leeds-based rock band Hope and Social will lead a special concert which people will be able to join in, from 2.30pm.

Tickets for all the concerts go on sale on July 24 at the Spa box office and online at coastival.com

As well as individual tickets, two special ticket offers are available, one covering the whole weekend’s music, the other for the Saturday only.

Coastival 2016 will return to the three-day format, after this year’s mini festival in February. It will have the theme Celebrating the Yorkshire Coast.

Coastival’s organisers, Scarborough-based arts development agency Create, say 2016’s festival is shaping up well.

Director Wendy Holroyd said: “We are really pleased to be in a position to announce some really talented and crowd-pleasing music acts for Coastival 2016.

“All the acts that we have secured have a very strong following and fit perfectly into the Coastival ethos. It’s really exciting to be at this stage for Coastival 2016 and bodes well for a fantastic festival.”

Cast has its origins in the Britpop movement of the 1990s and has enjoyed a string of successful singles, including Sandstorm, Walkaway, Flying and Free Me and hit albums, including All Change and Mother Nature Calls.

Snake Davis is an established musician and as well as touring himself has played with a huge line-up of stars, from Tom Jones, Tina Turner and George Michael to Beyonce, Kylie Minogue, Take That and Calvin Harris.

Asian Dub Foundation has been playing to packed audiences for more than two decades, with a trademark fusion of punk rock, electronic beats, reggae, bhangra and hip-hop.

Music will be just a part of Coastival 2016 as it will also feature theatre, dance, fine arts, comedy, performance and activities for children. More details will be released shortly.
