THE great great great-granddaughter of Charles Dickens is to visit the North Yorkshire town which inspired the famous novelist.
Lucinda Hawskley – a lecturer in literature and art history – will be at the Talbot Hotel in Malton for the start of Malton’s Christmas festivities. On Saturday, November 29, she will be reading extracts from A Christmas Carol – said to take inspiration from Malton – and talking about her celebrated ancestor.
Lucinda is also the patron of the Dickens Gift To Yorkshire charity which was established to manage and conserve the signed 1844 edition of A Christmas Carol for Malton. She said: “I was born in Yorkshire and always love to return to my home county. I am thrilled to join the campaign and reclaim my great great great- grandfather’s legacy.”
