Malton Monthly Food Market

The penultimate Malton Monthly Food Market of the year will be held on Saturday with more than 35 mouth watering food and drinks stalls.

The Cookery Theatre inside the Milton Rooms will see chef talent from Ye Old Sun Inn, Colton and from the Crown and Cushion, Welburn, take to the stage. There is also free tea and coffee with every bakery purchase as well as free entry and parking.

Get crafty throughout Ryedale

There are a number of craft and gift fairs taking place across the weekend. The annual NSPCC fair at Castle Howard will run from 9:30am - 3pm on Saturday and will have over 60 stalls selling everything from toys and children’s books to jewellery, home-ware and food and drink. Entry is £8 and under 13’s can go for free.

The Malton and Norton Fairtrade Group will host their annual Christmas shop at the Friends Meeting House, in Malton on Saturday from 10.30am – 4pm. The group will have a variety of gifts, crafts, decorations and fair trade goods for sale for those who want to get a head start on their Christmas shopping.

There will also be a winter craft and gift fair at Pickering Memorial Hall from 10am-4pm on Saturday.

Remembrance services:

Churches throughout Ryedale will be holding Remembrance services this Sunday.
St Peter’s Church in Norton will begin their service at 9.40am which will involve laying of wreaths to make a Remembrance mosaic.

Wombleton’s service will start at 10.50am in the village hall whilst St Peter and St Paul’s Church in Pickering will hold a service at 2pm on Sunday. The service will be followed by a parade which will assemble at the market Place before marching to the War Memorial on Bridge Street and heading to Potter Hill for a short service and the laying of wreaths.

Pickering Musical Society will put on a performance of Let The People Sing from Saturday until Wednesday as their 2014 wartime show. The show starts at 7.30pm on Saturday and 6.30pm on Sunday and tickets cost £10.

The Vatican Museums 3D: Greatest Art Collection at Helmsley Arts Centre

An impressive collection of art work from the last two thousand years will be on show at the Arts Centre on Saturday from 7.30pm.

Ultra HD 4K/3D film cameras went inside the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel to record masterpieces from the likes of Michelangelo, Caravaggio, Van Gogh and da Vinci. Members of the audience will be led on a unique and fascinating tour by the Director of the Vatican Museums, Antonio Paolucci, as they look at some of the world’s most famous works of art.

Hold an owl; fly a falcon at The Robert Fuller Gallery, Fotherdale Farm, Thixendale

Children will able to learn how to handle owls as part of this exciting one hour falconry course. Expert falconer Danny Carpenter will teach children how to hold the birds and tell them about what they eat and where they can be found.

Visitors are encouraged to wear warm and waterproof clothing as the workshop will take place outside. The event will run on Sunday from 10-11am and tickets are £6 for adults and £4 for children.
