MALTON COACHWORKS LTD have opened a new garage services division at the former Falcon Lubricants building on the corner of Pasture Lane and Showfield Lane.

Officially opening to the public todayon October 1, Malton Coachworks Garage Services will offer competitive rates for general servicing, repairs and all aspects of vehicle maintenance.

Already known for accident repairs, car body and paintwork as well as classic car restoration, Malton Coachworks have now been operating in Showfield Lane for four years.

Two staff members in 2010 has since then become a team of 11 and the company is continuing to grow.

The new mechanical repair facility is presently recruiting more skilled mechanics and is looking to offer apprenticeship schemes. This follows great success with a local former Norton College student, Daniel Mayman, who trained as a professional paint sprayer in a two-year apprenticeship scheme in the bodyshop.

The technical team has a mix of modern and classic car expertise and will be preparing all the vehicles sold for Malton Coachworks’ sister company, Classic & Sportscar Centre at West Knapton, which now sells more than £3 million worth of classic cars globally per annum and has been in business for more than 20 years.

While they carry out basic paintwork and body repairs on modern cars, Malton Coachworks are also experienced classic car specialists who have carried out full chassis-up restorations for clients all over the UK and across Europe and the new venture already has a range of interesting vehicles booked in from as far away as Devon and Kidderminster by clients who already know the company’s excellent classic car reputation.

Recently, a Rolls Royce was transported from Gibraltar to Malton for a full colour change and this week they have begun a full rebuild for a client in New York who is having an MGA Roadster rebuilt ‘as new’ to his specification.

There is always an eye-watering mix of old and new cars in their workshop and whether customers require some tidying up, underbody waxoyling or some accident repair work on their vehicle, Malton Coachworks have the team capable of carrying out repairs efficiently and to a very high standard.

James Szkiler, whose father founded the business in 1991, has been CEO since 2006. He is particularly keen to encourage the local community to visit and view the facility as they look to raise awareness locally and offer their wide range of mechanical and bodywork services to the Ryedale area.

He said: “We’ve invested in some excellent new equipment close to the standard of a main-dealer workshop but with a much lower cost base, meaning labour rates will be very competitive for the high standard of work and service provided.

“If you’d like to take a look and see what is happening on Showfield Lane, pop in and Malton Coachworks’ general manager Mark Brooks or service manager Alan Clark will be delighted to give you the guided tour."

“The bodyshop is just a few doors down from the garage in Showfield Lane and it’s guaranteed there will always be something interesting to see.“
