MALTON and Norton have renewed their status as Fairtrade towns.
The Fairtrade Foundation highlighted the Malton and Norton Fairtrade group's involvement in local community events and the progress they are making on producing a website.
Janice Gwilliam, from the group, said the Foundation had been impressed that they had been able to get a producer of Fairtrade bananas to come and speak to a local school.
"Some of the local events we are particularly pleased that we have been involved with are the Malton and Norton Folk Festival and the Food Festival, as well as out own craft fairs and annual two day shop in the Friends' Meeting house," she added.
"For the future we hope that we will be able to persuade more local businesses and shops to use and supply Fairtrade products."
