RESIDENTS campaigning against changes being made to the Camphill Village Trust gathered for a candlelit vigil to highlight the strong support received so far.
Supporters of Action for Botton met at Danby Church, near Whitby, on Sunday to highlight the struggle they are facing against the Camphill Village Trust, which is proposing to replace the current system of voluntary working with shift-working contracts.
Camphill Village Trust is a charity supporting adults with learning disabilities and mental health problems and provides homes within a supportive environment.
Botton is mainly a Camphill community and Action for Botton chairman Neil Davidson said that the campaign against the changes has so far received an enormous amount of support.
He said: “Our campaign has already attracted support from nearly 3,000 well-wishers around the world.
“We urged all our local supporters to attend the vigil which was an opportunity to demonstrate our strong support for many villagers, co-workers and their families who are against these proposals.”
