A NEW commemorative flag will be flying over Scarborough to remember the victims of the First World War bombardment of the Yorkshire coast.

The flag, with its message “Never to be Forgotten”, will feature at many of the ceremonies to mark the centenary of the outbreak of the Great War.

It has been presented to the borough along with individual town flags for Filey and Whitby Scarborough Mayor Pat Marsburg hopes the flags “will serve as poignant reminders of the local people who lost their lives at home and on the battlefields”.
