NORTON Town Council will write to the Environment Agency following concerns over a leaning lamppost on the town’s riverbank.
Members were told by town clerk Ros Tierney that investigations needed to be made as it was possible the land, which was frequently under water during heavy rain, was eroding.
Contact has been made with the Fitzwilliam (Malton) Estate, which owns the land, but councillors also agreed to write to the agency. Mayor Ray King said: “The area needs investigating to see if the bank is eroding and the lamppost needs moving.”
