Historic guns talk
A HISTORY expert is to give a talk on the battles and gun use in Ryedale across the centuries.
David Harding, from York, will attend the Slingsby Village History Group on Tuesday, March 25 in the village hall at 7.30pm, when he will present a talk entitled: “Any Old Bullets? Clues from English fields about fighting, training.”
The military expert will discuss the types of bullets, gunflints and cartridges that can be discovered in Ryedale fields, and what they reveal about fighting, training and the shooting sports in the area from the English Civil War until the Second World War.
