CONCESSIONARY parking fees and relaxed parking limits should be introduced in Malton, said town councillors.
Councillor Jason Fitzgerald-Smith, the deputy mayor, speaking at last week’s meeting, said the 30-minute parking limit recently introduced in Malton’s streets, was totally inadequate and, he believed, would deter shoppers and impact on Malton’s economy as a result. “It’s important that we should have attractive car parking rates,” he said.
Councillor Paul Andrews said that the 30-minute limit had resulted in a lot of anger from motorists.
Councillor David Lloyd-Williams said: “It’s over-the-top bureaucracy.”
Protests are being made to Ryedale District Council.
