PUT ON your dancing shoes and dig out those party dresses and sequins for a special Christmas dance.

Organisers Pat and Barrie Elener are inviting all people to “Come Dancing” at the indoor bowls club in Norton.

The couple, who have organised dances for a number of years, had thought last year’s event was the last after Ryedale District Council decided to sell the site.

However, since then a new committee has been fighting to save the building and turn it into a community centre.

“When the club closed in April we thought we had held our last dance there, so it was a sad end to the night,” Barrie said.

Proceeds from the dance will be donated to the centre.

The dance will be on Friday, December, 13 from 7.45pm to 11pm.

There will be modern and old-time dancing, as well as games and a raffle.

Tickets are £5 at the door, but anyone who would like to attend is asked to phone 01653 694431.
